SSS August 2016 card 3

Good evening everyone,

This is just a quick post to give you details about the fourth card I made with the August Simon Says Stamp kit and the products used.

My hope was to create a simple galaxy effect and match it with a clear sentiment so to not draw attention away from the key focus.

If you go to my YouTube video to 12 minutes 48 seconds you will find this demonstration.

Products used:

  • Daler Rowney 90lb watercolour cardstock
  • Gina Marie banner die
  • Papermania gold embossing powder
  • EK success powder tool
  • Versamark
  • Heat it up heat tool
  • Sizzix big shot
  • Fiskars paper trimmer
  • Papermania bone folder
  • Papermania acrylic blocks
  • Docrafts spritz in ink in white and gold stone
  • Zig clean color real brush markers in; black, deep blue, dark gray, Violet,  Persian blue, wine red and yellow.

I hope this inspires you to try out a galaxy background!

Please feel free to post and pictures of your makes or ask any questions!

Happy paper crafting! 🙂

SSS August 2016 card 2

So here is the second card, this thankfully did manage to video ok, so the demonstration is on my YouTube channel, (the link is on my the blog post from the 15th of August) from 10 minutes and 45 seconds onwards

I love the simplicity of this card, (though I say so myself!) Rainbow cards are so cheerful, and this technique can be used with so many different stamp sets – so much so that I will make a card from the September SSS card kit using the same colours.

The products used for this card were:

  • SSS August card kit
  • Fiskars paper trimmer
  • Papermania clear acrylic blocks
  • SSS dye inks in; sunkist, duckling, mint candy, twirling tutu and thistle
  • Hero Arts shadow ink in dusty blue
  • Papermania bone folder

That’s how few products were needed!

As always, if this has inspired you to make anything please share a picture, I love looking at all your makes 🙂

Happy paper crafting!  🙂

SSS August 2016 Card 1

Evening,

So here I’m going to try to describe in as much detail as possible my process for the pictured card, the video of it somehow corrupted so I wasn’t able to share the actual process sadly 😦

I used:

  • Simon says stamp August 2016 card kit
  • Gina Marie banner dies
  • Tim Holtz blending tool
  • Wow black embossing powder
  • EK success powder tool
  • Versamark
  • Clear wink of stella
  • Foam tape
  • Wet glue
  • Heat it up heat gun
  • Papermania acrylic blocks

So my process:

  1. I prepared my card Base by halving lengthways the sheet of red cardstock from the kit and folding it at 5 and a half inchest.
  2. I then prepared my card front with EK success powder tool and stamped using versamark the heart constalation along the right hand side from top to bottom, making sure I went off the edge of the card to make it look more organic.
  3. I poured over the versamark wow black bossing powder, then melted it with my heat gun.
  4. Once that had cooled I covered the hearts with a generous layer of clear wink of stella.
  5. I used one of the smaller tags from the Gina Marie banner die set to cut a piece of the Tim Holtz white paper from the kit, the one with the small handwriting.
  6. I then used the powder tool, stamped the sentiment in versamark and coated it in black embossing powder. I then melted that with the heat gun.
  7. Once cooled I used my blending tool to blend from the edges of the tag towards the middle using the festive berries ink included in the kit. Using a very light hand in a circular motion.
  8. I cut a few thin strips of black cardstock and patterned paper and positioned them around the sentiment banner with wet glue.
  9. I foam mounted the banner onto the card front and my card was complete.

I hope this is clear enough to be understandable. If not or if you have any questions please comment and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Thanks and happy paper crafting!! 🙂

Simon Says Stamp August 2016 Card Kit

Hello and good morning,

Over the coming days I will be posting details of the Simon Says Stamp Card kit August 2016.

This is the link to the video I uploaded to youtube yesterday…

I’ve had some feed back and the general consensus is that you would all prefer a voice over explining what I’m doing rather than the one piece of music I’ve been using. I can fully appreciate this, however, when I sit down to watch a video on youtube it’s normally as I’m letting my son fall asleep on me in the evening (I’m one of those mummy’s!) So I have the sound turned off anyway, I never really thought about the voice over being important.

That said, it’s been asked for so I will endeavour in my next video to do a recording and place it over the top. I hate my voice recorded and seem to develop a stutter whenever I try so please please be kind!

I always welcome feedback, I don’t see it as a criticism, but as a tool to grow and improve what I’m doing. I would much rather receive a comment telling me why a video wasn’t liked rather than a thumbs down which leaves me feeling quite sad that someone doesnt like what I’m doing.

Anyway, the first blog post will be the card that corrupted when I videoed and I’ll try to give as much explanation as possible in case you want to case the card or use the techniques.

As always, I love seeing people’s cards, I’m an absolute instagram addict, so if you make anything please feel free to show it off in the comments.

You can after all, never have too many crafty friends!

Thanks and happy crafting! 🙂 xx

Giveaway day!!!

So the day is finally here that I am doing the giveaway!

This is to thank all my lovely subscribers, across my instagram, youtube and, of course, my blog!

I did have something else in mind to give away originally, but between then and now I received a large haul from Gina Marie Designs, and she gave me a die, which was so thoughtful of her and I thought I’d continue the love and pass it on to one of you lovely lot!

Flamingos are really fashionable at the moment on cards, so thought this was really kind of Gina, I can’t recommend her store enough, being in England there was quite a bit of extraffic work involved for her and she kept me up to date the whole way through, I can’t recommend her products or customer service enough.

So, back to the giveaway, details are as follows:

  • Please leave a comment on my YouTube channel telling me what your favourite card technique to watch demonstrated is, (sneaking in a bit of market research for my upcoming videos!)
  • Please go to my instagram and follow my page, lovefromlizi, and like or comment on the giveaway post.
  • Finally, please comment on this post with which city you live in! I love that I have crafty friends all over the world!
  • Each comment and like gets an entry, so if you like the youtube video and leave two comments there, like and comment on the instagram and tell me where you’re from below your name will go into the hat six times.

I hope this all makes sense, and questions please pop them below! I will gladly send this die anywhere in the world, it makes me sad when I see giveaways which are restricted to just one country, so I’ll do my best to keep them open to all countries always!

I will do a video on Friday the 19th of August quite literally drawing the name out of a hat (probably my sons sun hat!)

Again, thank you so much to all of you for watching my videos, reading my blog, leaving comments and likes. It makes me feel like I’m really sharing rather than just clicking my things into the Web to be lost forever!

Good luck and happy paper crafting! 🙂

August Simon Says Stamp Card kit 2016

Good morning fellow crafty people,

I got home from celebrating my little boy’s birthday yesterday to find a missed delivery card on my door mat. So this morning having just dropped my little man at nursery drove over to the collection office and now have my fantastic kit!

Excited doesn’t come close, this month’s kit is absolutely brilliant and I can’t wait to play!

Sadly I didn’t get all of the patterned papers shown above, but I’m sure I’ll still manage to make ten cards.

I understand from the website that this kit is now sold out, however Simon Says Stamp do sell the products individually if you want to create your own!

Simon Says Stamp Shop
The kits can be bought each month, or you can do as I do and become a subscriber and get them sent each month five dollars cheaper, and no worry it will sell out before you get your hands on it! Also there is no contract, so if you decide it’s no longer for you it’s very easy to cancel straight away.

While I will craft as fast as I can, the making and editing of ten cards takes a little while, so I’ll be as quick as I can!

Anyway, thanks for stopping by, and I’ll give details of the giveaway for my lovely youtube subscribers in a blog post later on this week.

Happy paper crafting! 🙂
